You find a problem where you live and build something that answers it. Ten teams reach the final, and this year's came from Turkestan, Aktobe, Uralsk, Kokshetau and Karatau rather than from the two big cities.

Who can enter: Ages 13–18, in a team from one school with a teacher from that school as mentor. No adults on the team
What it costs: Free to enter, and if your team reaches the final the organisers pay travel and accommodation in Almaty for three of you. Building the prototype is on your team.
