Amsterdam is dense and international; Eindhoven is smaller, quieter and organised around technology employers.
How the money works
Non-EU tuition is substantial and is the main cost, unlike Germany. The housing shortage is severe enough that universities warn applicants directly, and arriving without accommodation arranged is a genuine risk rather than an inconvenience — start that search the day you are admitted. Part-time work is permitted within limits and is common.Described in shape rather than figures on purpose: rents and salaries move every year and we cannot keep numbers true, but what is expensive and what quietly eats income stays true for far longer.
The language you actually need
The most English-functional country in continental Europe: English-taught bachelor's degrees are standard, workplaces in tech and research run in English, and daily life is navigable without Dutch. Dutch still matters for long-term integration and for many non-technical employers.
